Introduction

If you are a developer who hates wasting time on coding the most frequent and most easy part of any software or any website? OR youa re just busy in converting images to code ? Then I got you, Introducing before you the revolutionary innovation in the frontend by the vercel team. V0 by vercel.

I have always wondered is there any easy way to code the most common parts of the website which does not require any sort of business logic such as pricing page, blog page design these are all small and common queries out there which needs to have a better and customised solution.

Of course there are plenty of human added solutions & designs out there, but I just need code for that. Imagine, I have an assitant and I just tell me give me best design of pricing page and he generates me a design and not only that he gives me code, not only this If I want customization I would just tell my assitant to do and it will do it for me, just imagine........ it would be heaven for me.

That's V0 by Vercel, You just name it and V0 will make it ready for you. Need customizations ? Tell V0 he will add it for you keeping the older version intact.

As a developer I usually copy code of the most used and developed part of the websites all around the internet. But I still needed to work on the code of the other developer make it compatible with mine, sometime analyze the libraries he/she had used and optimising the code as well. But this all can be done with a single prompt is very amazing.

Aslo when I search on the most popular websites I get the image and not code... ha ha ha 😌😂

Lets start analyzing V0 and know why I love this tool.

What is V0 ?

V0 is basically a AI model which generates the frontend code by just prompting it. Example you need inspiration in the blog design you just search over the internet and get lots of images. You still need to convert it to a code right ? but V0 can do it for you. It can also generate the code you want with just a prompt. V0 is still in Beta mode.

I have tried some prompts in the V0 and I was impressed by the results.

So I have tried some prompts to make a blog website design, lets have a look at the results

I prompted "Blog page designs" and here are the results

It actually gave me 3 designs through which I can pick and start working further. And all of them were quite cool.

It developed the most basic version a one can hope for in a blogging website. After selecting a design I asked to add my brand name as deveshk.dev and add some action buttons for like, share and comment.

And here are the results and you will be amazed too..

The best thing here I found was the position vercel's AI took for my prompt was quite fascinating. The AI understands what I actually want but you have to prompt it well that the only thing we need to make sure.

Last but not the least, I was quite interested in looking after how actually the code looks like. Then I clicked on the code button and here it is...

I was quite happy by seeing the code of the whole page in couple of minutes. The vercel's V0 uses tailwind to style the code and react as a framework. The code was quite good and may become better in future.

You also get the versions of the designs as you go on prompting it creates a different version for that.

The V0 pricing is quite interesting

The free plan of V0 gives you 200 credits/month and you can buy on demand credits as well. And a prompt uses 10 credits I got to know after some experimentation, and we are done

Things I loved about V0 🔥

• The AI model understands what we are trying to say.
• V0 is much more capable in his baby stage and I believe it can do more in the coming teen days.
• Combining code with tailwind gives advantage to developers to use the tailwind and the ones who are using it its a very big advantage to them.
• Maintaining a version history give users a sort of comparisions about their thinking and they can be more creative while testing diffrent prompts.
• Pricing module is quite modular as most of the SAAS applications are moving forward in this module
• Easy to use interface, its just some prompting and boom... 🔥🔥

Things I think V0 must improve 🤩

• It takes lots of time to load, you have to wait couple of minutes to see the prompted results
• If your prompt is not clear in what it wants vercel would create anything which you would dislike and I believe the vercel's AI model will become mature over time.
• The vercel's V0 uses only tailwind so if you want to use it in your project you either have to use tailwind or have to code your own custom css

So, I think this is the result of the great efforts by team vercel for such an innovative tool for all the frontend developers. I think you must try this tool I found it amazing though it is in his early stage.
